8/20/  I don’t read many self-help nonfiction books. However I’m really glad I read this one. Released inJordan B. Peterson’s 12 Rules for Life combines ancient wisdom with recent scientific discoveries as he presents a dozen useful (and arguably, universal) rules for us to lead more fulfilling lives. I agree with you completely. I enjoy novels and nonfiction both, but when I finish a nonfiction work, I feel I take away more knowledge from the reading experience. End of the year lists are the best, I love keeping a record of the best things about a season, and my year-end book lists are my favorite to compile. On average, my goal is to read about 1 book a week, or roughly 50 - 55 books a year.

I hit that goal inbut it was a little uneven. Mid-way thr. 1/2/  Nonfiction had a great year infrom Walter Isaacson’s Leonardo da Vinci biography to cultural critic Roxane Gay’s Hunger: A Memoir of (My) Body and countless titles in between.
